DETAILS
The deadline to have this SUBMITTED is October 31st, 2019
○     Given that this takes 2-4 weeks to secure you should plan on going to the RCMP station to start the process no later than October 10th.
Instructions
1.    Take a) your ID, & b) a printout of the HNS letter (LINKED HERE) with you to your local RCMP/Police detachment.
○     These can only be processed in the area where you live. For example, if you live in Sydney, you are not able to have your CRC/VSV processed in Halifax.
○     HRM Residents only: CRC/VSV may also be completed using an online tool.  For information on this process go to  www.mybackcheck.com. Please ensure you click on the Vulnerable Sector Search.
2.    There may be a cost to this. Many places will waive or reduce this with the printed letter from HNS so be sure to take that with you.
3.    Once the CRC/VSV result is complete, it is to be picked up by the individual that applied for it.
4.    The completed document must now be registered with HNS. To do this you have two options:
○     You can mail the original document directly to the HNS office (attn: Kelly Dalrymple), and be sure to include your eHockey ID, a note that you are a referee, and in what association you work.
○     You can take your original document to your referee-in-chief to have them initial it and make their own copy (pictures are ok) that they will then submit for you.
Note: Other accepted personnel that can do this for you are the HNS referee-in-chief, HNS zone coordinator, HNS league liaison, or HNS female RIC.

Other information
  • Only persons 18 years and older are required to have a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Verification (VSV).
    • If you turn 18 during the season, you must complete this within one week of your 18th birthday.
  • The three-year validation of the CRC/VSV begins Sept 1 of the current season and expires Aug 31, three seasons later (example: Sept 2019-Aug 2022).
  • A valid Child Abuse Registry verification will be accepted in lieu of a VSV.
